This is an introduction to a matcha bowl created by Nagahisa Kassai from Hagi-yaki.
This unique piece showcases the elegant texture of the clay and the crackled glaze characteristic of Hagi pottery. It is a slightly larger matcha bowl formed from the light brown clay typical of Hagi.
The surface features fine crackling in the glaze, giving it a robust atmosphere. The outer side shows the turning marks from the potter’s wheel, and there is a drip of white glaze on the front, adding to its charming character.
The shape is close to that of a well, with less roundness, resulting in a dignified presence. The foot is high and substantial, reflecting the rawness of the clay.
