Introducing a hand-crafted Banko ware teapot (Bofura) that can be used for boiling water.
This piece is shaped on a potter’s wheel using light brown clay.
Made from heat-resistant clay, it is a teapot that can be used over an open flame to boil water.
Traditionally used in the sencha tea ceremony, it is referred to as a “yu-wakashi” or “Bofura,” and is designed to be placed on a small boiling tool called a “ryōro.”
Though it is made from clay, it is crafted with a thin and lightweight design, showcasing the high level of skill of the artisan.
The surface features the potter’s wheel marks and a reddish-brown glaze known as “gohon,” adding warmth to the piece.
It has a distinctive design with a bulging body that tapers at the top and bottom.
Inside the spout, there are several small holes to prevent tea leaves from escaping while pouring.
This vessel allows you to boil water directly and enjoy delicious tea by adding tea leaves.
Please avoid rapid temperature changes to prevent damage.
Dimensions: Diameter at the mouth: 7 cm, Diameter of the body: 12.5 cm, Height: 10.5 cm, Capacity: 450 cc.
