Kiyomizu Ware Red Shonzui Mug Cup
This is an introduction to a Shonzui style mug cup from Kiyomizu ware.
Originally, Shonzui referred to blue-and-white porcelain produced at the Jingdezhen kilns in China during the late Ming dynasty. Today, however, the term generally refers to blue-and-white porcelain pieces created in a similar style.
The body is pure white, carefully crafted, with evenly applied glaze and a vivid blue coloration. In modern times, the style often features slightly twisted lines filled with blue-and-white patterns.
This mug cup is entirely hand-painted on white porcelain, using both underglaze blue (sometsuke) and overglaze red (akae), requiring exceptional effort and high-level craftsmanship.
The exterior is densely decorated without any empty space, offering excellent value for its artistry. The red overglaze includes four twisted geometric motifs such as tortoiseshell patterns, while the rest is executed in underglaze blue with the dami (shaded fill) technique. The rim is adorned with different intricate patterns on the inside and outside.
The rim gently flares outward toward the top, making the cup easy to drink from, practical to use, and simple to clean.
The white porcelain body has a moderate thickness, providing strength while remaining light and conveying a sense of delicacy.

赤绘部分采用龟甲纹等四种图案,以扭曲的形式表现;
