This is the introduction of the “Ultimate Extra-Flat Teapot,” handcrafted by a certified traditional craftsman of Tokoname-yaki.
Tokoname-yaki’s signature red clay, known as shudei, is rich in iron content, which helps to mellow the astringency of tea, resulting in a smoother, more rounded flavor.
While most teapots are typically round, this teapot has been designed in an extremely flat and low-profile shape—crafted in pursuit of the ultimate form to maximize the flavor of tea.
Among flat teapots, this one stands out as particularly low—an extra-flat type.
With its wide diameter, tea leaves spread out faster and more fully, allowing for better infusion and enhanced flavor extraction.
Even with a small amount of water, the leaves can unfurl easily, drawing out their full character.
Because the leaves open up quickly and broadly, it is also perfect for making cold-brewed green tea (mizudashi).
Mizudashi is sencha brewed with cold water, which suppresses bitterness and astringency, bringing out more sweetness and umami.
With a capacity of 200ml, it is a comfortably sized teapot ideal for single servings.
To avoid metallic flavor interference from mesh strainers, a finely crafted ceramic strainer is built into the spout—fully integrated into the body of the teapot.
Both the strainer and the teapot itself are entirely handmade, showcasing the skills and dedication of a master craftsman.
The diameter of the mouth, body, and base are nearly identical, making the interior easy to clean and dry—ensuring long-lasting cleanliness and excellent hygiene.
Subtle horizontal wheel-throwing lines (rokuro-me) can be seen on the exterior of both the lid and body, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship involved.
The lid is precisely made with a snug fit and weighted feel, so it stays in place during pouring and doesn’t rattle. The spout is designed to minimize drips.
Although it is an extra-flat shape, the overall form is gently rounded, creating a soft and approachable aesthetic.
Thanks to the flat lid, you can easily hold it in place with your thumb while pouring, making it very functional for one-handed use.

这是一把由常滑烧的传统工艺师精心打造的「终极超扁平型急须」。
常滑烧的代表性陶土“朱泥”,富含铁分,能够有效抑制茶的涩味,使茶汤口感更加醇和柔顺。
虽然市面上的急须大多为圆形,但这把急须是为了最大限度引出茶叶的风味而特别设计为低矮且扁平的究极造型。
在各种扁平型急须中,这一款尤其扁平,是名副其实的「超扁平型」。
由于壶径较大,茶叶可以更快、更充分地舒展开来,扩散效果也更好,因此能更高效地冲泡出美味的茶汤。
即使注入的热水量较少,也能让茶叶充分展开,便于释放其原有的香气与滋味。
因为茶叶能迅速且更广阔地舒展,因此也非常适合用于「冷泡茶」。
所谓「冷泡茶」,即是使用冷水泡制的煎茶,由于不使用热水,能有效抑制茶中的苦涩成分,泡出的茶甘甜可口、旨味丰富。

为了避免金属滤网对茶汤口感产生影响,注水口内侧特别配备了精致的陶瓷滤网。

壶盖设计得贴合度高,不易松脱,略带重量,倒茶时不易滑落;壶嘴设计亦十分讲究,不易滴漏。
虽为超扁平型,但整体造型仍保有圆润的线条,呈现出温和柔美的气息。
壶盖也是扁平设计,因此即使单手使用,也可以用拇指按住壶盖,轻松倒茶,兼具功能性与实用性。
