The carved wooden surface is repeatedly coated with suri-urushi (wiped lacquer), resulting in an exceptionally durable and long-lasting finish.
Due to the variation in hand carving and how each area of the wood absorbs lacquer differently, the surface displays natural gradations in tone and subtle variations in the chisel marks, giving each piece a unique and organic expression.
Even when made from the same wood and by the same craftsman, no two trays are ever exactly alike—each one possesses its own distinct character.
This tray can be used both as a serving tray (hakobi-bon) and as an individual place setting tray (zen), making it highly versatile.
The slightly raised edges and chiseled texture help prevent dishes placed on it from sliding off.
To improve usability, all edges on the underside of the tray are beveled, making it easier to lift from a flat surface by allowing your fingers to slip underneath.
Though the tray appears rugged due to the bold chisel work on the surface, it is made thinner than it looks, giving it a refined, delicate impression in hand.
Its slim profile also makes it practical and easy to store without bulkiness.

這是一款來自讚岐塗的木製一體成型正方托盤（膳）的介紹。
此托盤是由整塊木材鏤空雕刻，由經驗豐富的職人一鑿一鑿手工雕琢而成，製作過程極為繁複。
在雕刻完成的木胎上，多次反覆擦塗生漆（拋光漆），使其塗層堅固，成品具有極高的耐用性與耐久性。
因為手工雕刻的痕跡與木材吸收漆料的程度不同，表面會呈現出深淺不一、鑿紋錯落的自然表情。
即使使用相同的木材、同一位職人來製作，每一件成品也絕不相同，這種獨一無二的個性正是每件托盤的魅力所在。
此托盤既可作為膳桌使用，也可作為承載托盤使用，實用性極高。
邊緣略為上翹，加上鑿刻紋的凹凸質感，可有效防止所置器皿滑落。
為了方便從桌面拿起，托盤背面的四邊邊緣皆以斜切加工，讓手指可自然滑入，提升握持與使用的便利性。
雖然視覺上呈現粗獷質樸之感，但實際厚度偏薄，使用時反而能感受到其細膩與輕盈。
