Introducing the Takatori ware eggplant-shaped tea caddy.
Takatori ware originates from Fukuoka Prefecture and began around 1600 when Kuroda Nagamasa was transferred to Chikuzen Fukuoka. It is said that Yasan (Takatori Hachizo), who came to Japan during the Keicho Campaign (Korean Expedition) accompanying Nagamasa, opened the kiln at his command.
It flourished as the official kiln of the Kuroda family and became one of the “Seven Kilns of Enshu.”
This eggplant tea caddy is based on the shape of Tang tea caddies, resembling an eggplant with its slightly bulging round form, which is how it got its name. Among Tang tea caddies, the eggplant shape is considered the highest in rank.
This tea caddy features a glossy brown glaze that creates a luxurious appearance with its deep, rich color. The drips of glaze on the front exhibit a complex kiln change in ochre and white, presenting an interesting visual.
While its refined shape gives a sense of weightiness, it is remarkably light due to the hand-thrown technique, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
The fabric cover is made from a textile called “Hanairo Ryu Marumon Donsu,” featuring a subdued navy background adorned with round dragon motifs.

高取烧是福冈县的一种陶瓷,起源于1600年。当时,黑田长政被调任至筑前福冈,随同他来到日本的八山(高取八藏)受命开窑,传说这是高取烧的开始。
作为黑田家御用窑,高取烧曾经盛况空前,成为远州七窑之一。
这个茄子茶入以唐物茶入的形状为基础,呈现略微下膨的圆形,因其形状与茄子相似而得名。
在唐物茶入中,这种茄子形状被视为最上等。
该茶入以光泽感强烈的茶色釉药为基础,浓郁而深邃的色调显得格外高贵。
正面的釉药流挂展现出黄土色和白色的复杂窑变,呈现出有趣的景观。
虽然外观端庄,给人一种厚重感,但由于手工拉坯制作,茶入非常轻巧,体现了极高的技艺。
仕服采用了“花色龙丸纹绒布”,以沉稳的深蓝色为底,上面装饰有龙的圆纹。
