Shakutate
Introducing a shakutate made by Kanamori Hikobei from Takaoka Copperware.
A shakutate is a tool used in the tea ceremony for holding a ladle and fire tongs, and it is one of the utensils used on the tea serving table, such as the daisu, nagaita, and tatami-style settings.
This shakutate is made of cast copper and has a rich dark brown finish, giving it an elegant appearance.
Three fine patterns, centered around a thunder motif, are engraved vertically, creating a distinct design.
This piece is a copy of the style favored by the sixth head of the Omotesenke, Kakukakusai.
The top features three horizontal lines, providing a tightened visual effect.
The body has a slight bulge with minimal difference in thickness at the neck, resulting in a slender silhouette.
The back is marked with the stamp “Hikobei.”
With its substantial feel and calm texture, this shakutate is one that will not tire with time and can be used for many years.
