Shōami Work Lid Rest: Tateguwa with Shonzui Design
Introducing a handcrafted lid rest by Shōami.
A lid rest is a tool used in the tea ceremony to hold the lid of the kettle. It is also used when drawing water with a ladle, and its shape, material, and design are matched according to the theme or season of the tea gathering.
Although it is a small item, it is prominently displayed on the shelf and is an indispensable piece of equipment.
The lid rest is shaped like a tateguwa (standing melon) made from white porcelain, with intricate hand-painted blue designs on the exterior. The vertical lines of the melon are indented, dividing it into five sections, each adorned with different shonzui patterns without any gaps, demonstrating high craftsmanship and considerable effort.
Since tateguwa belongs to summer vegetables, this lid rest is perfect for summer tea gatherings. The design, which is painted solely with underglaze blue, offers a refreshing and enduring aesthetic.

瓜的纵向纹路凹陷，分为五个区域，在这些区域里绘有不同的祥瑞图案，图案间没有间隙，展现了高超的技艺和极大的工艺复杂性。
由于立瓜属于夏季蔬菜，因此非常适合用于夏季茶事。
