信楽焼から佐平窯、宇田隆和 作 瀬戸釉の水指のご紹介です。
茶褐色の土をろくろで挽き、成形された一重口（ひとえぐち）の水指です。
一重口とは、口造りの一種で、切立てのままの口造りをいいます。
切り立ったように、まっすぐにそびえ立つように作られています。
胴回りには、ろくろで挽いた跡が残っています。
このような、濃い茶色の釉薬は瀬戸釉と呼ばれ、侘びた風情があり
茶道具で使われています。
釉薬が濃く出ている部分と薄めになっている所があり、変化があります。
しっかりとした作りと重厚感と高級感ある雰囲気からすると、
大変リーズナブルな価格と言えます。

Sahei Kiln, Seto Glaze, Hitoeguchi Water Jar (Mizusashi)
We are pleased to introduce this mizusashi with a Seto glaze by Takakazu Uda of Sahei Kiln, Shigaraki ware.
This hitoeguchi water jar is wheel-thrown from tea-brown clay and carefully shaped. Hitoeguchi refers to a type of mouth construction in which the rim is left straight and unaltered, forming a clean, upright opening that rises vertically as if cut straight up.
The wheel-throwing marks remain visible around the body, lending the piece a sense of handwork.
This type of deep brown glaze is known as Seto glaze and is appreciated for its subdued, wabi-inspired character, making it well suited for use as a tea utensil. There are areas where the glaze appears darker and others where it is lighter, creating subtle variations in tone and surface.
Considering its solid construction, sense of weight, and refined, high-quality presence, this piece can be described as very reasonably priced.
