Sanuki Lacquered Wood Carved Round Tray, Zokoku Red, Urushi Lacquer, 30 cm
Introducing a round tray made from natural wood and carved by hand, from the Sanuki lacquerware tradition.
The base is coated with natural urushi lacquer, which is applied in multiple layers to achieve the final finish.
“Zokoku-nuri” refers to a style of lacquerware named after Tamakaji Zokoku, the founder of Kagawa lacquer art. This style has come to be known by his name.
The process involves shaping the wood using a lathe, then strengthening the wood, before repeatedly applying raw urushi with a brush. A plant called makomo, a perennial grass found along riversides and ponds, is scattered onto the lacquered surface. More urushi is applied over the top, completing the finish.
Over years of use, the lacquer develops a rich sheen and unique depth, enhancing its elegant, subdued beauty.
Zokoku lacquer is renowned for its durability, making it a perfect piece for everyday use, allowing the tray to become a cherished part of daily life.
The rough texture created by the lathe on the entire surface of the tray gives it a distinctive design, highlighting both the handmade warmth and also providing a practical anti-slip effect.
The edge of the tray is lacquered in red, providing a striking contrast with the black Zokoku finish, allowing both colors to complement each other beautifully.

介绍一款来自讃岐涂的天然木材切割制作的圆盘。
此圆盘采用天然漆涂抹于素地上，经过多次涂抹和打磨，精心完成。
“象谷涂”（ぞうこくぬり）得名于香川漆艺的创始人玉楮象谷（たまかじ ぞうこく），因此这一技法被称为“象谷涂”。
首先，用车床加工木地，经过木地固化后，再用生漆多次刷入，再撒上生长在河边或池塘中的多年生禾草——真菰（まこも），最后继续刷入漆层并完成。
随着长期使用，表面会逐渐显现出光泽与独特的阴影，散发出浓郁的韵味。
象谷涂具有非常坚固的特性，非常适合日常生活中频繁使用的漆器。
整个盘面上的车床纹理展现了粗犷的风格，成为独特的设计元素，体现了手工制作的温暖感，同时也起到了防滑的作用。
盘子的边缘涂上朱红色，与象谷黑色形成鲜明对比，相互衬托，彼此的色彩更加突出。
