Nambu ironware is a craft with a long history of some 900 years, said to have been created during the height of the Fujiwara clan, who left behind a flourishing culture in Hiraizumi of Ōshū (present-day Iwate Prefecture).
Its reputation extends widely overseas, thanks to its distinctive sand-iron processing techniques and richly elegant forms.
