This matcha bowl features white Shino, the most basic color of Shino ware.

The bowl is hand-formed from white clay and coated with Shino glaze. When the artisan dipped the bowl into the glaze, there are three finger marks left from where they held it, adding to the character of the piece.
The exterior displays the marks from the potter’s wheel, and the typical pinholes and cracks of Shino ware showcase the charm of earthenware.
The shape is slightly wider at the base with a straight-sided design, having depth, and the bottom is nearly flat, created with a deformation technique.
Overall, the bowl is circular, with a textured rim, and there are areas around the body that show both chisel marks and a slight bulge, making it comfortable to hold.
