Kiyomizu-yaki, Atsushi Yamakawa Creation, Water Plant Design Lid Holder
We are pleased to introduce a handcrafted lid holder by Atsushi Yamakawa of Kiyomizu-yaki.
A lid holder is a tool used in the tea ceremony to place the lid of a kettle. It is also used when drawing the ladle, and its shape, material, and design are selected to match the theme of the tea gathering or the season.
Because it is often displayed on the shelf, it stands out significantly. Although it is a small tool, it is indispensable.
The lid holder features a creamy, soft texture reminiscent of Kinkyo (the style of the famous potter Kinkō), with hand-painted water plants that make it fresh and beautiful.
The water plants are depicted in three shades of green, as well as gold and purple, creating a vibrant and colorful design that blends the refreshing green with the luxurious gold.
The overall shape is crafted to resemble flowing water, with a fluid, deformed form. Additionally, water plants are painted on both sides, and the design includes two places with water flow-inspired cutouts, creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere.
This lid holder is a masterpiece that encapsulates the thoughts and techniques of its creator.
