In the context of tea ceremony, the “Dutch” style specifically refers to the patterns depicting “tobacco leaves” rendered in yellow, blue, and green, as seen on this water jar.
This motif has been widely used on tea bowls and water jars and has been respected among tea practitioners for generations. The “tobacco leaves” are prominently displayed amidst arabesque patterns, characterized by lively brushwork, although the designs vary from piece to piece.
The jar has a cylindrical shape, appearing somewhat elongated and sleek. With vibrant colors painted on a white porcelain body, this striking water jar stands out beautifully on a display shelf, adding an elegant touch to the tea ceremony setting.
