Introduction of a red-painted Kutani-style teacup from KIyomizu-yaki.
On the outer surface of the porcelain base, hand-painted red-painted arabesques and various colored flowers are depicted.
The flowers are vividly painted in colors such as yellow, purple, and pink.
Surrounding them, a technique called “nuri” with a deep vermilion color is applied densely and meticulously, showcasing high skill and considerable effort.
The base features a tortoiseshell pattern in sometsuke.
The arabesque pattern, with its tendrils stretching out, symbolizes the enduring prosperity of a household, while the tortoiseshell pattern, likened to a turtle’s shell, symbolizes longevity with the saying “a crane lives for a thousand years, a turtle for ten thousand years,” both patterns representing auspicious motifs.
The inside is entirely plain, allowing the color of the tea to be clearly seen, enhancing the enjoyment of fine tea.
The teacup has a tall, slender base, crafted in a stylish and elegant form.
The base material is thin and delicately imbued with a lightweight atmosphere.
This masterpiece exudes a dignified charm, allowing one to appreciate both the bright colors of overglaze enamel and the sophisticated elegance of underglaze decoration.
