Hagi Ware – Original Matcha Bowl by Setsuo Hara
Introducing a matcha bowl by Setsuo Hara from Hagi ware.
This bowl is crafted from brown clay mixed with small stones and shaped on a potter’s wheel. It is finished with a white glaze, which is characteristic of the Shirohagi style.
The bowl features a texture called “kairagi,” where the glaze has contracted, revealing the underlying clay. The cracks are irregular in shape, size, and length, giving it a robust appearance.
A subtle potter’s wheel pattern is visible, and the glaze is applied thickly, creating a plump and substantial feel.
