Kiyozuyaki, Shozan Work, Gohon-te Six Gourd (Mubyō) Sweet Bowl
Introducing the gourd-shaped sweet bowl by Shozan, produced at the Genpei Kiln.
The bowl is crafted from white clay, and the creamy-colored material, resembling the color of Hagi ware, is molded into a shape that resembles a gourd when viewed from above.
The surface is adorned with numerous fine crackles, showcasing the beauty of the earthenware.
On the sides of the bowl, five small gourds have been carved out.
Although the name of the bowl is “Mubyō” (Six Gourds), there are only five carved gourds. The sixth gourd is counted by the overall gourd shape of the bowl itself.
There are subtle red-toned areas on the bowl, giving it a soft and gentle atmosphere.
The six gourds symbolize “mubyō” (no illness), which is a wish for “good health and longevity.” It is a lucky and auspicious piece.
The gourd cutouts add a stylish and refined touch.
