Akazu Ware Oribe Jukkoku Rice Bowl and Teacup Set
We are pleased to introduce a set of rice bowl and teacup in Oribe style from Akazu ware.
The white clay body is decorated with vertical lines of Oribe glaze. Specifically, a paint that repels glaze is applied in lines, and when the Oribe glaze is applied over it, the glaze is repelled in those areas, resulting in a Jukkoku pattern with the Oribe glaze adhering to those parts.
As a result, the Oribe glaze areas are slightly raised, giving a three-dimensional effect. The interior is plain with occasional faint speckles, showcasing the rustic charm of earthenware.
While the appearance has the substantial feel of Oribe ware, it is surprisingly lightweight and very practical for everyday use. Its simple and understated design makes it less likely to become outdated, ensuring it will be a long-lasting addition to your collection.
