清水焼から藤平正文 作の布目花器のご紹介です。
白土をろくろで挽き、表面に布を押し当てて布生地の跡を付けて
その上から青みがかった釉薬を掛けて仕上げてあります。
布目は均一ではなく様々な表情があり、場所によって独特の変化があり
この花器の特徴となっています。
形は寸胴ではなく２，３か所のくびれを持たせてあり、
手作りならではの造形となっています。
花器としては、かなり大きなもので大作の花を活けられる立派なものとなっています。
大きさからいうと、少しもったいない気がしますが傘立てとしても
使えるサイズとなっています。
花器として花を引き立ててくれるデザインですが、陶芸作品としても主張があり
存在感があるので、花を活けなくてもオブジェとして飾って頂ける逸品といえます。

Kiyomizu Ware by Masafumi — Nunome Flower Vase (Umbrella Stand)
We are pleased to introduce this nunome (fabric-textured) flower vase by Masafumi Fujihira, crafted in Kiyomizu ware.
White clay is thrown on the wheel, and while still soft, fabric is pressed onto the surface to imprint the texture of the cloth.
A bluish glaze is then applied over the textured surface to complete the piece.
The fabric texture is not uniform but shows a variety of expressions, with unique variations depending on the area — a distinctive feature of this vase.
Rather than being a simple cylindrical form, the body has two or three gentle constrictions, creating a shape that reflects the handmade nature of the work.
As a flower vase, it is quite large, making it an impressive vessel capable of holding large and elaborate floral arrangements.
Given its size, it might even feel a little extravagant, but it can also be used as an umbrella stand.
The design enhances the beauty of the flowers, but even as a ceramic art piece on its own, it has presence and makes a strong impression.
It is a fine work that can be displayed as an objet d’art, even without flowers.
