美濃焼から林孝太郎 作の香合のご紹介です。
香合とは香を入れておく蓋付きの器で主に茶道などで使われます。
炭点前で使ったり、帛紗や紙釜敷の上にのせて床の間に飾ったりもします。
11月から4月までは、炉の時季で練り香を使うので、この香合のように
陶磁器製を使います。
鑑賞の対象になることが多く、とても多くの種類があります。
この香合は美濃焼を代表する白志野で、鉄絵で模様が描かれています。
表面には艶があり、所々にピンホールと貫入が入っています。
こんもりとした形が特徴で、陶器としての温かみがあります。
全体は四角い形をしているのですが、角がないので一見丸く見えます。
ぽってりとした志野の良さがよく出ている逸品です。

Shino Incense Container
We are pleased to introduce this incense container (kōgō) by Kotaro Hayashi, from Mino ware.
A kōgō is a lidded vessel used to hold incense, primarily in the tea ceremony. It is used during the charcoal procedure (sumi-demae), and may also be placed on a silk cloth (fukusa) or a paper kettle mat (kami-kamashiki) and displayed in the tokonoma alcove.
From November through April, during the season of the sunken hearth (ro), kneaded incense (nerikō) is used, and ceramic incense containers such as this one are employed.
Incense containers are often objects of appreciation and exist in a great variety of forms.
This piece is made in white Shino (shiro-shino), one of the representative styles of Mino ware, and is decorated with iron-painted designs.
The surface has a gentle sheen, with pinholes and crackle (kannyū) appearing in places.
Its softly rounded, slightly mounded form gives it a warm, earthen character typical of ceramic ware.
Although the overall shape is square, the absence of sharp corners makes it appear round at first glance.
This is an excellent piece that beautifully expresses the rich, plump qualities characteristic of Shino ware.

香合是用于盛放香料的带盖容器，
